- State custody or supervision records: Virginia Department of Corrections rather than a Buchanan County clerk or sheriff counter
The county directory does not identify a separately named sheriff's Records Division, records email, or walk-in schedule. Call 276-935-2313 before visiting the Vansant office and ask for the custodian of the specific sheriff record. For a court file, contact the appropriate Grundy clerk instead; the two clerk counters share the courthouse address but have different hours, mailing addresses, phone numbers, and record duties.
