Why We Built This Site
No single Buchanan County office holds every part of a criminal history. The Circuit Court clerk in Grundy keeps felony trial files and expungement petitions, while the General District clerk handles misdemeanor and traffic files plus felony preliminary proceedings. The Buchanan County Sheriff's Office in Vansant is the proper starting point for sheriff-created incident, arrest, booking, and warrant material. Official Virginia criminal-history checks come from the Virginia Department of State Police, Criminal Justice Information Services Division, through the Central Criminal Records Exchange. State custody and supervision records belong to the Virginia Department of Corrections. This site brings those official channels, request steps, and scope limits into one clear reference.
